Strickland reunion.

21st of December we had a Strickland family reunion. I think it was all about seeing the whole family and knowing each other. It was held in a Marae in Manurewa. The marae in Manurewa where we had our Family Reunion was a strict place to stay at, maybe all the maraes in New Zealand is strict so we had to respect the marae. We couldn't eat in the marae, we couldn't run or play rough and MORE, cause there was consequences to what you do wrong. We had to respect the marae. That was hard cause there was a lot of kids to play and giggle with.

In our family there are 6 glans (IDK what that means) there was, George family, Rio Family, and more I forgot. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner was made by every family, what I mean is like every single clan had a turn to cook the food for example on Monday was the George family they had to cook breakfast, lunch, dinner, on Tuesday it was the Rio family they cook the whole meal for the day, so every glan had turns of cooking the food. Every meal was always Delicious.

At 8:30 pm we had activities, kids from 10 downwards would have hiding go seek, musical chairs and other fun activities. 11 upwards was in the hall doing drama, dancing, singing and more which was fun, I mostly enjoyed every single one cause it was soo funny and cool to be involved in. And at 10 pm we had to go sleep, but me and my cousins that was my age would just muck around giggle and we would challenge each other who would stay up the longest, its like alnighters. Where you stay up all night.

25th of December it ended... which was so sad cause I had loads of fun, and I miss it so bad. But out of all the strict marae it was still fun staying there, and breakfast, lunch, dinner was always delicious cause they were mostly cook island food.The activities were sooo fun, we giggled and mostly enjoyed our self. I have no favourite I loved everything we did.By the way I was part of the George family, and we're having another family reunion in 2023 in 5 years time. THANK YOU FOR READING ALONG!!

Expo Day ( Force and Motion )

Today we had an expo day about Force and Motion. We had to come up with a experiment about Force  and Motion to present. My group and I came up of making a ROCKET made out of a plastic bottle, vinegar,  baking soda, and a cork to hold the vinegar and the baking soda in. We choice a rocket so we can look at how it's  going up and falling back down.

So the first thing we did we poured one small cup full of vinegar into a 1.5 litre bottle , and 3 tease spoon of baking soda in with the vinegar and i put the cork in to the part where you put the lid in and i faced it upside down and in 30 sec it went flying up into the sky.All the student that were watching was so amazed, but we ran out of ingredient so fast, that we couldn't make more.

So as you can see the answer is 42 , I solved it in order of BEDMAS

The tree where my fathers memory is!!!!!!

Hi my name is Ella I live far far away from town with my mother Alice, We moved out far away cause my mum killed my innocent father. We live in a rotten ugly house in the middle of nowhere. My house is surrounded by old trees. We plant veggies out in a little garden we have and hunt for animals for meat to feed ourselves, and sometimes my mum would abuse me. At night I would always think about my father.

One day I went for a walk among the bushes, and a stunning gorgeous big tree was standing right at the front of me, it caught my eyes like if I was dreaming. I walked slowly to the tree and memories of my father would come in mind, I touched the tree the breeze blew by, and I notice something, the smell of the wind…………….

The… the wind smelled like my fathers perfume he wore everyday. The tree was so magical it's like my father lived here or he might be the tree "I thought". I wanted to climb to the top of the tree but it was too late that I needed to go home.

The next morning I went to the garden planted a few veggies and did a little bit of chores, and my mother would go hunting for some deer. After I did all my chores, I ran back to the tree and I slowly walked by it………. And memories of my father will come back, tears would flow down my face and when I touch the tree I would smell my fathers perfume.From now on I would always come and visit the tree, I would sometimes have lunch there or when my mother abuses me that where I run to, it gives me peace. THE TREE WAS MY FATHER…….. I told myself.

This week I've learnt how to solve Ratios and Proportion problems, I've found it really challenging cause its my first time solving this kind of question, but I had a lot of fun. ITS GOOD TO LEARN NEW THINGS.

Being a good friend is what people want, and that's what I want too, and I have one of those friends and I love her, she's funny, I trust in her and she’s really cool, if that’s what you want read along, cause in the next 3 paragraph I will give you some ideas of what a good friend means.

My first idea is that being a good friend is always funny. Crack some jokes out to make things fun and funny, like when your friend is feeling sad, being funny can put a smile on or sometimes can change their feelings. For example your friend is sad and angry cause she didn’t have lunch or something to eat, being funny can put a smile on them or can sometimes change their tone. Therefore being a good friend has to be funny to fix unhappy feelings or just for fun.

My second idea is to trust your friend. Trusting a friend is a friend that you can share your secrets with, not  are friend that listens to what you say about others and tells that person, that’s what you call a two face. For example you told your friend that you hated the tough girl in school cause she’s ugly, mean and stupid, and she goes and tell the tough girl what you said, and guess what the tough girls comes after you to give you are hiding, and that’s not a good friend. Trust a friend that not a two face.

My third and last idea is to treat your friend how you want to be treated. How do you want to be treated? I want to be treated nicely respectfully and carefully. If that’s what you want you have to treat your friend how you want to be treated, nicely, respectfully and carefully. If you treat them that way they will treat you back the same, and I know sometimes friends sometimes don’t do that, let me tell,you that's not a trusting cool nice friend. It’s like when you treat you friend nicely respectfully they will treat you the same and isn’t that what you want. By the way treating others the way you want to be treated is a good friend.

There you have it what being a good friend means, is to trust in them (not a two face), To be funny, (crack some funny jokes) and treat them how you want to be treated,( not a friend that you treat nicely and they treat you the opposite), If your friend has all these things in them that’s the best friend in the world, cause I have one of those friends and we’re like sisters, and I really admire that. Thank you for reading and I hope you find a friend like this and and you be like this too.

Puberty talk with Toni ( Embarrassing )

Kia orana everyone, today we had a special guess named Tony come in to talk to us about puberty. He has come in, to talk to us of how our body changes, and what could happen. In the next 3 paragraph i will tell you three main topics he talked about.


1.Growing hair.
Everyone in the world grows hair everywhere. You grow hair on your face, legs, arms, tummy, head, feet, and your genitals. but there’s 4 body parts that don’t grow hair which is your eyes, hand palm, lips and at the bottom of your foot. Growing hair is normal for everyone in the world, and even growing hair on your genitals is normal as well.

2. Girls changes
Girls have a lot of changes. When girls grow into an adult, there hips grow wider and your body may look curvy. Girls breast start to grow bigger and nibbles stand out. Girls have their periods and every female goes through that. Girls sweat more and stinks at the same time, so you have to use deodorant. The most important part is to wash your body every single day.

3. Talking with your parents.
Things change on your body which is cool. When things happen, don’t just think that you can do it yourself, you have to ask your parents for advice. For example, girls get their periods, you need to seek for help from your parents for some advice to know what to do. Shaving some hair off some of your body parts. Don’t just go ahead and do it. Ask your parents how to do it, or ask them to do it until they say that you can do it yourself. There’s more puberty things that you have to ask your parent while your body changes, and its the right thing to do when your going through body changes.

There you have it three topics Toni taught us today about puberty. 1.Growing hair is normal, 2.Girls changing body looks is normal, and 3.Talking to your parents is sometimes scary but you have to do it,and it’s the right thing to do, and I think it’s normal too. So body changing is normal for every single person in the world. Don’t be scared cause it happens to everyone.

The immersion assembly

The term starts, the sun is shining bright, it’s time to find out what our topic will be for this term.
As usual our teachers has planned an item to perform to us, but they don’t release it until our
immersion assembly. Immersion assembly is the Pt England way!!  Not knowing what we’re
learning. Seeing the teachers acting normal like it’s the middle of the term. But wait until we
enter the hall, it’s gonna change the teachers look into the first day of the term. We enter the hall
at 9:00 and we get seated. We start with a prayer and with the national anthem. And now it’s
the teachers turn to be on stage.Let me explain to you in the next 3 paragraphs why we love
having immersion assemblies.

Being animated and eager to learn.. That’s what I love about the immersion assembly.
Soo excited to enter the hall to see everyone’s lovely face smiling and excited to see what
the teachers has to show us all, And that what I’m really excited for, to see what our team 5
teachers are gonna show us and explain to us what we’re doing for this term, by being funny
or showing us an example in a funny item. I love it when there so dramatic and funny cause it
really cracks me up.

Teachers challenge!!!!. Some teachers are on stage, trying to draw Mr Morand. 1 minute on the clock the teachers are starting….. Bing bing bing the time’s over and now it’s time to show us all what they’ve drawn on there peace of paper. First teachers shows us a person's face perfectly drawn. Second teacher has drawn are black circle with little blue marks. Third teacher has drawn are cartoon character. Fourth and last teacher has drawn a stickman, and the vote comes on to vote who won the challenge, and it was the face that's been perfectly drawn. And isn't that fun to watch. Watching the teachers  challenging each other at drawing. They struggle and that what we do but they had something to show us and that’s amazing.

This topic has really got me into starting this term. Arting, Drawing, Creating, Painting, and  challenging. That’s a whole lot of fun. Everyone is laughing, watching the teachers acting all funny.But you can always wait until we start learning, by the way my favourite act was team 5s. Immersion assembly is teachers trying hook us in for this term topic, and they show us that it will be fun,and most of all we need to know what our topic is for this term.  Our topic for this term is

“ Te Wa Toi”

MOVE YA BODY

This term my group and I have been learning a mixture of dance that compares Hip Hop, Line dancing, African dance, and a bit of a play around dance. We've overcome our moves for dancing and finally its over. I liked what we did which was dancing, because I've found our dance super cool and entertaining to show team 5. There's nothing negative that you can find trying something new to do, but you can find something difficult to do but you always have to try you best. IN our performance I was so happy because we did it at the front of the whole team which was so frighting and we did it not perfectly but perfect. But I think they enjoyed it. THANK YOU

Cross country run

I came to school Friday morning, not wanting to run. I wanted to wagg school but I was always not
allowed. We all got dressed into our funky coloured costume, there was student full of glitter, ribbons on
heads, tutu’s on waist, and hats that was worn and different coloured t-shirts. Everyone was so
tremendous and crazy and also ready to RUN. The house captains said our chants, but I never heard it,
cause I was busy talking.

“ Year 8 girls” I hear the teachers call, I got up quickly and acted like I was ready to run.

While I was walking towards the track I think about what my goal would be….. Jog the entire course,
Push through, Never stop, Encourage people, Finish it properly and most of all to have fun. Then I think
about the food I ate, pie, fizzy drinks, KFC, corned beef, chops, steak, and are whole punch of lollies.

BANNNNGGG!!! The starter went, everyone sprinted as fast as they could, I jogged and already I was
out of breath, then I knew straight away it was the food, but I never stopped, I pushed myself, until I got
to the muddy patch and straight out of the muddy patch I jogged again. I was encouraged by some girls ,
and I encouraged them back. Half way through my first lap I stopped, I couldn't resist myself from
stopping, but I did it. I jogged again and finally first lap was done!!

Second lap “ Go Irene, Go Irene” I hear these little girls call out. I was so proud of myself when they said
that, It’s like I was the man at running but actually hmmm. I go through the muddy patch again, then the
pain hits me, my calf muscle was cramping and I was getting out of breath, so bad, my heart was
pounding, as if I was gonna die. Then I stopped AGAIN.. And walked nearly the whole way. Mr
Wiseman says “Go Irene the finish line is right there run”. I ran and all I hear is all the year 7s singing,
“ Let's go Irene Let’s go. I was embarrassed, but I ran and finished the race off properly, oh thank the
lord I say.
